Residents of a neighborhood in SW Miami-Dade have been dealing with a mail thief, captured on surveillance footage in several incidents. The footage, shared by NBC Miami, shows a male suspect moving between mailboxes, sometimes on foot and other times driving, taking mail from various homes.
Christina Espinel, a resident, mentioned to NBC Miami that for about six months, mailboxes have been found open with missing mail every morning.
The thefts pose a greater risk, potentially leading to financial crimes. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service has warned residents to watch for suspicious activities like wire transfers, block robocalls, and regularly check their credit reports to protect against further issues related to stolen mail, as noted by Local 10 report.
Omar Delgado, who installed cameras after multiple thefts, said the footage clearly shows the thief moving from house to house. Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers is accepting anonymous tips at 305-471-8477.
