The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is looking to quickly beef up their ranks by hosting a Rapid Hire Event in Nashville, slated for March 21 and 22. The event, which happens at the TDOC’s Community Resource Center in Madison, is tailored for individuals aiming to start their careers as Correctional Officers. According to a release from TDOC, hopefuls can hope to complete their interview and pre-employment obligations in one swift visit, possibly walking away with a conditional job offer that same day.
Applicants will find TDOC has recently boosted starting salaries for Correctional Officers—a significant uptick, with the baseline pay starting from $51,204, and ascending to $60,720 after a period of 18 months. Besides, new hires are welcomed with a $5,000 sign-on bonus, adding an extra sweetener to the deal. Those who want to guarantee their spot on the event days can pre-book by submitting the necessary online application, but the event also opens its doors wide for walk-ins.
Details shared about the event specify it’s scheduled for March 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CDT, and continues on March 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CDT. It will be held at the TDOC Community Resource Center, located at 900 Madison Square, Madison, TN 37115. Those looking to attend can learn more about what is needed by visiting TDOC's website.
Value-add benefits for state-employed correctional officers include comprehensive health care, life insurance, and vision and dental packages. On top of retirement plans and paid leave, these officers are also afforded college tuition assistance. After hiring, new Correctional Officers will receive six weeks of paid training at the Tennessee Correction Academy, which arms them with the essential skills and knowledge to competently carry out the duties of a correctional officer in both facility and classroom settings.
