In Lawrence County, Tennessee, first responders reunited with a two-year-old boy and his family to celebrate his recovery from a near-drowning incident. The gathering, filled with gratitude and relief, took place on March 23rd at the Jason Dickey Memorial Fire Training Center. According to a social media post by Lawrence County EMS, the incident that prompted this reunion occurred last month when Grant, the toddler, nearly lost his life in a swimming pool. It was through the concerted efforts of his family and the swift response by emergency services that he was able to hold onto life.

The ordeal began on February 9th when Grant went missing during family time at a Lawrence County residence. It spiraled into panic as he was found unresponsive in the pool, which set off a frantic call to 911 and immediate CPR by his family. Lawrence County E-911 dispatchers acted rapidly to summon Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Lawrence County Fire & Rescue, New Prospect Fire Department, Lawrenceburg Lawrence County Emergency Management, and Lawrence County EMS, all of which responded swiftly to provide essential medical attention. Grant needed to then be transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Despite the circumstances, the actions of those involved managed to ensure Grant's complete recovery.

As part of the commemoration, Grant had the chance to reunite with the very people who saved his life. During the event, he was presented with toys symbolizing the first responder agencies that aided him. His family took the opportunity to express their heartfelt thanks to the emergency responders, recognizing the significance and impact of their work. "They encouraged first responders to remember that the jobs they do have a true purpose and that they are each a blessing from God," according to the post by Lawrence County EMS. The family's gratitude was palpable as they shared a prayer for the continued safety and strength of the emergency personnel.
