Gunfire disrupted the relative calm of a late Tuesday night on the Dan Ryan Expressway, as a vehicle became the target of an unknown assailant's bullets. The shooting occurred near 79th Street on the city's South Side, with the incident leading to a temporary shutdown of the northbound lanes. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Illinois State Police found the vehicle had been struck by gunfire twice.
Despite the violence rendered upon the vehicle, there was a fortune that no individuals were harmed. "ISP did not provide any other details," as stated by ABC7 Chicago.
Shortly after the incident, state troopers responded around 11 p.m. and initiated an investigation at the scene. For vehicles that were intending to navigate the expressway during this time, lanes were closed down around 1:05 a.m. but all lanes were reopened before 2 a.m., as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
