A Vista couple is facing several charges, including child endangerment after deputies discovered methamphetamine and an apparent Butane Honey Oil (BHO) lab during a parole compliance check at their hotel room residence. According to the San Diego Sheriff's Department, the operation unfolded on Wednesday morning when deputies visited James Butler, who was found in breach of his parole terms.
During their search on the 600 block of Sycamore Avenue, authorities uncovered roughly 50 grams of meth and evidence of a BHO lab, prompting the Sheriff's Marijuana Enforcement Team and County Hazmat to take control of the scene. Butler and his wife, Kelly, were both taken into custody, the latter joining her husband in charge after it emerged that their child had been living in the same compromised conditions.
Intervening in the child's welfare, San Diego County's Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Department stepped in shortly after. They conducted a preliminary scrutiny, which led to the child's placement with other family members, away from the scene contaminated by narcotics and exposed lab elements.
