According to a social media statement by the San Francisco Fire Department, the break compelled an immediate shutdown of traffic along Cortland Avenue, ranging from Anderson Street to Andover Street. The department quickly called upon SFFD truck company 11 to respond to the scene where the water surged from beneath the earth.
