Early morning yesterday, a shooting in downtown Fort Lauderdale left a woman hospitalized. According to Local 10 News, the incident occurred on the 100 block of Southwest Third Avenue, where the victim sought help from police after being shot.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded quickly, and the woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. Authorities believe she will survive her injuries. Police also noted that the suspected shooter was known to the victim, and the shooting occurred near Northwest 19th Street and 15th Avenue.
CBS Miami added that a Public Safety Aide from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department was approached by the injured woman at around 4:27 a.m. Officers provided medical care at the scene until Fire Rescue arrived.
The woman is being treated for her injuries and is expected to recover. Preliminary police reports suggest the suspect was known to the victim. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
