
A 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with vehicular hijacking and other offenses after an altercation on N. Lockwood Ave. in the 25th District, according to the Chicago Police Department. The individual, whose name has not been released due to his age, was arrested on April 14 at 9:20 p.m. and is facing one felony count of vehicular hijacking and one felony count of manufacturing/delivering 1<15 grams of heroin/analog, in addition to a misdemeanor battery charge.
The situation unfolded when the juvenile, now in custody, was identified as participating in the forcible seizing of a vehicle, an act that included battering a 43-year-old male victim. Following the alleged crime, which occurred less than an hour before his apprehension, the suspect was swiftly detained and discovered to be illegally possessing narcotics. The police proceeded to charge the adolescent accordingly.
The Chicago Police Department has stated that no additional information is available at this time regarding the circumstances that led to the juvenile's abrupt actions that evening or the condition of the victim following the encounter.
