
An 18-year-old from East Bridgewater has died and a passenger is seriously injured after a single-car crash in Middleborough early yesterday morning. According to Boston 25 News, the accident took place around 2:37 A.M. on Marion Road, prompting response from local fire and police departments.
On arrival, authorities encountered a vehicle that had collided with a tree, the driver of the vehicle, was trapped and had to be extricated using hydraulic cutting tools, whereas, the passenger was already freed by bystanders and had sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where the 18-year-old driver was later pronounced dead, as reported by 7News - WHDH Boston.
The identity of the deceased teen has yet to be released, pending notification of next of kin. The condition of the injured passenger has not been updated at this time. In a statement by Police Chief Robert Ferreira and Fire Chief Owen Thompson, the passenger was noted to have been pulled from the wreckage by people who were on the scene before the emergency services arrived.
