Bloomington's public health landscape has been bolstered by the arrival of Alex Najafalipour, a dedicated nurse whose resume isn't just limited to health care, according to a profile highlighted by the city's own website. Najafalipour, who made the switch to public health in September 2024 following a solid tenure of over six years at Allina Health, brings a refreshing mix of expertise from both the medical field and customer service.
Given his past role, it's clear Najafalipour knows a thing or two about patient care and hospitality; his eight-year experience in the latter, when hitched to his healthcare background, seems to make him an excellent fit for the community-centric nature of public health work. "I wanted to begin a new chapter of my health care career in Public Health, and I knew that Bloomington would be a great place to start," Najafalipour told the city's publication, affirming his commitment to making a difference at a more local level and, he enjoys helping others and taking inspiration from the residents he serves.
His academic credentials don't fall short, either. Najafalipour isn't just one for the books; he's got two degrees - one in kinesiology and one in nursing - and that's not where he's stopping, as he's eyeing a master’s degree in public health next. Outside the office, he balances life as an avid sports fan and a musician, and just like anyone else, Najafalipour enjoys quality time with his family - his wife Kelsi and their pets Minne and Charlie, and also indulging in the culinary arts with a spot of cooking, per the city's profile.
