An 18-year-old Chicago man named Demarco Brown has been charged with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, and another for being in possession of a loaded firearm. According to Chicago Police Department's news release, Brown's apprehension was the result of efforts by the members of the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force
The incident occurred on Sunday when Brown allegedly took a vehicle and other possessions from a 55-year-old woman at gunpoint. The location given by the police places the crime in the vicinity of the 6900 block of S. Wabash. Shortly after the vehicular hijacking took place, the police were able to locate and arrest Brown at approximately 12:15 p.m., in the 6200 block of S. Damen.
A detention hearing scheduled for today is set to take place for Brown at the courthouse located on 2600 S. California. Additional information regarding the case has not been made available, as the situation is an ongoing investigation. For all inquiries, the Chicago Police Department has refrained from further comment at this time.
