
A 36-year-old man's life came to a tragic end this past Saturday evening in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood, according to local authorities. The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Nicholas Pinto, was shot and killed outside his vehicle. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Pinto had been exiting his car around 11:20 p.m. on the 2500 block of South Hillock Avenue when an assailant in a red SUV opened fire, striking him multiple times.
Following the incident, police officers, responding to the shots fired, found Pinto on the ground near his vehicle. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, he was quickly transported to Stroger Hospital, where, despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead. The shooting has sparked an investigation, and as of now, no one is in custody. While shedding light on this grim occurrence, ABC 7 Chicago adds that the shooting is being looked into by Area One detectives.
The circumstances around this violent act remain murky, and the Chicago Police Department has yet to release additional details about the drive-by shooting.
