
The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood in the 7th (Englewood) District following a string of armed robberies. According to the alert, the reported incidents occurred while victims were in the process of making food deliveries. The unknown assailants, reported as two African American males, approached the victims with a handgun and demanded their possessions before fleeing on foot.
The specific incidents took place on the 6800 block of S. Perry, with one occurring on March 30, 2025, around 4:47 a.m. and a previous crime happening last Saturday, at approximately 5:51 a.m. The offenders were described as wearing black ski masks and black hooded sweatshirts. Offender #1 was noted to be wearing white pants, while Offender #2 was in black jeans and bore a handgun. This information was detailed in an official statement released by the Chicago Police Department.
The Chicago PD has recommended that residents always remain vigilant of their surrounding and report any suspicious activities immediately. In the unfortunate event that one is confronted, the advice is to stay calm and attempt to remember any distinct physical features of the assailants, such as scars, limps, or dental conditions. The department stresses that victims should never pursue the fleeing suspects but instead provide any observed details to the authorities. Witnesses should also be encouraged to share contact information.
Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 immediately in case of such incidents and to stay at the scene when possible to assist the police.
