Chicago residents are on alert after the Chicago Police Department reported a series of armed robberies in the Harrison neighborhood within the 11th District. According to a community alert issued by the CPD, the recent incidents involved suspects armed with handguns who demanded and took property from their victims. The offenders reportedly fled on foot post-robbery.
The CPD has disclosed specific incidents: one occurring on the 4200 block of W Walton last Friday, at around 2:20 PM and another a short while later on the same day at the 4300 block of W Iowa at approximately 2:52 PM. Bellies filled with audacity, the suspects, described as 2-3 black males between 16-20 years old, were donned in black hooded sweatshirts, dark pants, and ski masks while conducting their crimes.
In the wake of these crimes, the CPD is advising the community on steps to ensure personal safety. Residents are urged to avoid confronting any suspects or chasing after them, and to try to note any distinguishing features they may have. The CPD also recommends preserving any video evidence and to, if approached by witnesses, gather their contact information. The golden rule in such instances remains to call 9-1-1 immediately and to not tamper with the crime scene.
While the investigation is ongoing, the CPD has heightened its assurance for public cooperation. "If you are a victim, please do not touch anything until police arrive," reads the statement, emphasizing the importance of preserving evidence. Law enforcement officers are keenly urging anyone with information related to the incidents to come forward and help them to swiftly find the individuals responsible.
