Chicago authorities are currently on the search for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist with serious injuries last month. The Chicago Police Department has issued an appeal to the public for information about the dark-colored, possibly black, 2008-2011 Porsche Cayenne implicated in the accident. The collision occurred in the Edgewater neighborhood on March 26, around 9:40 p.m., as reported by CBS News Chicago.
According to police reports, the 57-year-old male victim was bicycling northbound across the intersection of North Kenmore Avenue and West Thorndale Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle. The car was traveling westbound and is said to have run the stop sign just before hitting the cyclist. The vehicle likely has damage to its front bumper and grill, an indication that could potentially help to swiftly identify the perpetrator. After the crash, the Porsche was last spotted turning left to head southbound on North Winthrop Avenue, as was disclosed in a statement obtained by FOX 32 Chicago.
In an effort to further assist in the identification of the car and its driver, the police have released images of the actual car along with a stock photo of a similar model. The aftermath of such incidents always beckons for community cooperation and it is no different in this case.
