Residents in the Davie and Cooper City areas are gearing up for an Autism Awareness Day event, slated to take place on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the BSO Cooper City Fire Station 28 located at 10550 Stirling Road. This community-driven initiative offers an array of activities and is open to the public without charge, thanks to the sponsorship of Baptist Health and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
Aiming to engage and educate, the event features an assortment of offerings including light refreshments for those in attendance and a series of public safety demonstrations that highlight the capabilities of the Davie Fire Rescue team, for those interested in witnessing a gear change presentation and observing the trucks up close they'll get their chance as the fire rescue trucks will be on-site, coupled with that, the Davie Police Autism Awareness vehicle and the Mounted Unit will also be present, contributing to the day's educational bent.
In the spirit of inclusivity, a designated sensory tent will provide activities tailored for individual sensitivities, ensuring that all participants can find comfort and enjoyment during the event. Furthermore, a range of vendor resources will be available, offering information and support to those affected by autism and their families.
