The Detroit community is in a state of concern as the Detroit Police Department calls for public assistance in locating 15-year-old Cher’Tonia Cox, who has been reported missing since Tuesday. ClickOnDetroit reported that Cher’Tonia was last seen on the 2000 block of E. Larned Street after school and was wearing a pink jacket, a yellow shirt, black pants, and black shoes at the time of her disappearance.
Cher’Tonia is 5 feet 1 inch tall, has black and blonde hair and brown eyes, and weighs 120 pounds. She also has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, which her father mentioned while discussing her case, adding a layer of urgency to her safe return.
In an era when social media is essential in spreading awareness, the Detroit Police Department’s Missing Division has echoed the call for assistance on its Facebook page. A post from April 2nd urges the community to come forward with any leads, stating, "Please help us find missing Cher’Tonia Cox. If you have any information, please call Detroit's 7th Precinct at (313) 596-5740 or 911." The direct link to this plea for help can be accessed at the Detroit Police Department's Missing.
As time is of the essence in cases of missing persons, especially when involving someone as vulnerable as Cher’Tonia, the authorities and her family are holding onto hope that community members will come forward with information that may lead to Cher’Tonia's safe return – every second counts and anyone with details, no matter how seemingly insignificant, should reach out to the Detroit Police Department's 7th Precinct or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up, where they have the option to remain anonymous if they wish.
