Miami International Airport's latest art exhibit is offering passengers a verdant visual escape. Titled "Dreaming in shades of green," this collection by Belizean American artist and Miami resident Amanda Bradley immerses onlookers in the rich tapestries of Miami and Belize landscapes. Wander through Concourse D, specifically at gates D22 and D25, and you'll find yourself amidst an environment of contemplation, now until September 8, 2025. Bradley, who holds a BFA in photography from the New World School of the Arts in Miami, uses her camera to explore and communicate notes, discoveries, and questions that address our relationships with places and memories. The exhibit itself is a mix of 12 archival fine art prints composed of both color and black-and-white photography, some even embracing alternative processes that challenge typical visual interpretations. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava lauded the exhibit's impact on travelers, saying, "Stunning art exhibitions like Dreaming in shades of green infuse culture and the beauty of nature into the passenger journey at MIA, which enhances the overall experience," as reported by Miami-Dade County's official press release.
The color green becomes a central focus within Bradley's work, a symbolic thread weaving through notions of abundance and freedom. Pieces such as "Embedded in the backyard" (2022) pull viewers into layered narratives of natural beauty, while "Warm breeze in the pasture" and "When the sun meets the river" (both from 2024) envelop onlookers in soothing landscapes. This exhibition is just one chapter in Bradley's accomplished career, which includes international solo and group shows. The artist has a history of residencies and awards that evidence her artistic reach, including time spent with Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator in Suriname in 2023, Women Photographers International Archive at Faena in 2020, and a spot in the Home + Away residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts with Oolite Arts in 2019. In addition to her artistic accolades, Bradley is also recognized as a two-time Suncoast Regional Emmy award-winning producer, further cementing her rep in the creative arts scene.
