
Tragedy struck early today in Streeterville as a car accident resulted in one fatality and left another man fighting for his life. As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. when a Chevy SUV crashed into a building in the 100 block of East Superior Street.
Details provided by the Chicago Police indicate that the two men were in the vehicle when they lost control, resulting in the collision with the building. The age of one man, who was pronounced dead on the scene, remains undisclosed, while the second man, a 40-year-old, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. In a similar account, WGN-TV also confirmed these events, noting the time as just before 3 a.m.
The Major Accidents Unit is currently spearheading the investigation to discern the cause of such a sudden crash. Despite the immediacy of the response from local authorities, the mystery as to what prompted the driver's fatal loss of control hangs in the air, with neither drugs nor alcohol being immediately ruled in or out as factors.
