Tragedy struck in the early hours of Monday morning in Franklin Park, as a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with another vehicle. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., resulted in the closure of a significant stretch of North Mannheim Road. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the crash took place as both vehicles were traveling north from Belmont Avenue when they struck each other.
The identity and age of the motorcyclist were not immediately known. The severity of the incident led to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office's arrival at the scene, as per WGN-TV. Authorities had not reported any other injuries from the incident.
As investigation efforts commenced, Mannheim Road was closed from Waveland Avenue to Grand Avenue, impacting travel for both locals and visitors near O'Hare International Airport. Franklin Park Police Department’s accident reconstruction team was on the scene, working to piece together the events that led to the motorcyclist's untimely demise. The police suggested alternate routes for commuters, advising the use of York Road and 25th Avenue to navigate around the closed section, as outlined by the WGN-TV report.
