Yesterday, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Carlsbad, resulting in fatal injuries. The incident occurred on the 6600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard, just north of Island Way, where Carlsbad Police Department officials were called to the scene at approximately 4:57 a.m., reports indicate.
The male pedestrian, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was in the roadway when he was hit by a northbound vehicle. The driver, who stopped to render aid to the victim and call emergency services, is not currently suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the Carlsbad Police Department. First responders, including officers from the Carlsbad Police Department and personnel from the Carlsbad Fire Department, attempted CPR and advanced life-saving efforts. However, the pedestrian was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the victim positively. The Carlsbad Police Department has appealed for witnesses, asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
