This morning, an incident on North Harbor Drive escalated into a fatality that is now under police scrutiny. A report was made by a security guard from the Maritime Museum around 1:29 a.m. after an unidentified woman claimed she heard a gunshot. In the aftermath, a man was discovered on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The scene of the tragic find was 1700 N. Harbor Drive, where San Diego Harbor Police found the injured White male, believed to be in his forties; paramedics declared him dead by 2:00 a.m. Although a firearm was found near the body, suggesting the Medical Examiner brought in a possible suicide, the San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit will investigate further.
Presently, the man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
