A man was found dead on Saturday in an overturned vehicle in McHenry County, according to local authorities. The Harvard Fire Protection District responded to reports of a crash around 3 p.m. They arrived to discover a heavily damaged vehicle that had veered off the road and into a field in unincorporated Harvard, Illinois, police reported.
The incident occurred in the 24700 block of Route 173, where paramedics located the sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, who had sustained fatal injuries. The man, unidentified at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the car was found overturned approximately 75 feet from the road, NBC Chicago reported.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and McHenry County Coroner's Office, with no further details immediately available. The area around the site of the crash was closed for several hours following the accident, creating significant traffic delays in the region.
The road was reopened by 7:45 p.m. yesterday, according to statements from local officials. As the investigation into the crash continues, authorities have not yet released any other information on the potential causes or contributing factors of the crash, WGN-TV reported.
