The Franklin Police Department has announced a campaign to recruit new officers for one of Tennessee's fastest-growing communities, using social media to attract candidates with competitive salaries and work-life benefits. As detailed in a Facebook post by the City of Franklin, TN - Municipal Government, Franklin PD is looking to expand its ranks with both entry-level and P.O.S.T. certified officers. An entry-level position starts at an annual salary of $65,000, while lateral hires can expect to begin at $68,000.
But it isn't just the money that might draw applicants to the small city's police force. Perks like a 4-day work week and a take-home vehicle are also part of the package. In a nod to modern sensibilities, the department specifies that tattoos and beards are allowed, an inclusion that reflects a broader shift in policy designed to appeal to a wider range of applicants. Beyond aesthetic allowances, they also offer substantial benefits, including college tuition reimbursement, excellent health plan options, and retirement benefits.
Specialized opportunities are also up for grabs with the department, including positions with SWAT, FLEX, Dive/Swiftwater, Honor Guard, Crisis Negotiation Unit, and Traffic Unit. This variety indicates a department interested in a diversity of skills and specialties, looking to build a well-rounded force.
