The search for Kaylee Birt, initiated by the Harney County Sheriff's Office, has been suspended as of Thursday at 5:00 P.M. Despite the intensive seven-day search that saw multiple agencies and individuals collaborate, the efforts to locate Birt have, for the time being, reached a standstill. Harney County Sheriff's Office has announced that while the active search operations have ceased, Kaylee remains listed as a missing person in law enforcement databases, a status that ensures her case remains active, albeit in a different capacity.
According to a post on the Harney County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, precautions have been advised for those within the community who may choose to continue searching for Kaylee on their own accord. The Sheriff's Office cautions to wear appropriate attire, bring extra food and water, inform others about their search plans, and stay vigilant of the terrain and potential predators, given that cougars were spotted during one of the search days.
