In a series of recent operations aimed at tackling persistent quality of life issues within Holyoke, local police officers made multiple arrests on charges ranging from drug possession to trespassing. As reported by the Holyoke Police Department on their social media, the actions are part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal activities that adversely affect the city's neighborhoods.

During a property check on Newton Street and Essex Street last Saturday, Holyoke Police Officer Nilda Hernandez and Sergeant Dustin Summers arrested Cherise Keyes after she was found with a sizeable quantity of heroin/fentanyl. The social media post detailed that Keyes was caught on High Street with 100 bags of the substances. According to the department's announcement, Cherise Keyes, a 34-year-old Springfield resident, is now facing charges including possession with the intent to distribute a Class A drug.

The following day, Officer Thomas Spafford, amidst his observance of suspect activity at 137-141 Sargeant Street, teamed up with Sergeant John Veit and other officers to conduct a property check in response to several no trespassing signs posted in the area. After a brief chase, Angel Gonzalez and Amber Rondeau were apprehended. Holyoke police disclosed that they found narcotics as well as a cell phone linked to the suspects in the vicinity where they were first spotted. Gonzalez, aged 43, and Rondeau, aged 36, now face numerous charges including possession with the intent to distribute Class A and B drugs, and in Rondeau's case, an additional two outstanding arrest warrants.

Continuing their efforts on Tuesday, Holyoke police encountered Angel Acumulado when he emerged from a condemned alleyway off Newton Street. While conducting a safety check following his detention for trespassing, police found Acumulado in possession of drugs and a large folding knife. As conveyed by the Holyoke Police Department, 40-year-old Angel Acumulado, also from Holyoke, is now charged with subsequent offenses for possession with the intent to distribute classes A and B drugs among other charges.

Earlier in the week, on April 11, police officers were called to a parking lot on Appleton Street due to a fight. Richard Torres, caught following a short chase, was found to be in possession of heroin. He faces charges that include disorderly conduct, trespassing, and drug possession. On the same incident, Felix Vargas was arrested, and officers confiscated crack-cocaine and heroin. Vargas, a 20-year-old Holyoke local, is charged with multiple offenses, including drug possession with the intent to distribute.
