An Indianapolis woman was taken into custody in Las Vegas in connection to a March 2024 overdose death, authorities reported. FOX59 details that Jasmine Bowen, 28, is facing charges for dealing in a controlled substance that resulted in death, a Level 1 felony, and dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 5 felony, according to court documents recently filed in Marion County.
On the night of March 15, 2024, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers discovered 31-year-old Trey Williams unresponsive in a home on Snowdrop Way; he was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Marion County coroner ruling his cause of death as an "acute overdose," WISH-TV reported. After months of investigation, Bowen was named as a suspect; her arrest came last Thursday, following the issuance of a warrant by Marion County the previous day.
According to WTHR, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department conducted a traffic stop of Bowen's vehicle, which lacked a license plate, and she was apprehended based on her active warrant. In a statement released by IMPD, it was disclosed that Bowen's arrest is "the seventh arrest by the ODTF this year for charges related to separate deadly overdose investigations."
Bowen will be extradited to Marion County this week IMPD said. The tragic outcome of the incident reflects a continuing struggle with narcotic abuse and the grim consequences of illicit drug trade that law enforcement agencies aim to combat.
