Construction to repair multiple bridges in Jefferson City will begin in early May, with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) awarding the project to E & C Bridge, LLC. The work will start with substructure repairs and a concrete overlay on U.S. Route 54 over Linden Drive and Stadium Boulevard.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, starting May 5, drivers on U.S. Route 54 between Business Route 50 and Stadium Boulevard should expect one-lane traffic in each direction. Turning at Stadium Boulevard and onto U.S. Route 54 will be impacted, and speed limits will be reduced to 35 mph. These conditions are expected to last until mid-October, although there is a possibility of early completion.
The project will involve repairs on 11 bridges, with one bridge being retired from service. Traffic disruptions will include single-lane closures, ramp closures, and full road closures depending on the bridge being worked on. The project is set to be completed by December 1, 2026.
Missouri Department of Transportation encourages drivers to use the zipper merge technique to help reduce congestion. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions. Drivers are advised to plan for delays and possible detours.
