Chicagoans in the Jefferson Park area, take note: this weekend, your streets are about to get some extra police attention. According to an announcement from the Chicago Police Department, a DUI Saturation Patrol is slated to kick off Friday, April 5, at 6 p.m. and run until the wee hours of Saturday at 2 a.m.

The goal, per CPD, is to saturate the area with roving patrols focused on detecting and addressing unsafe driving behaviors. The deployment of the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit aims to expedite DUI processing, deter impaired driving, and, when necessary, issue charges and bonds on-site.

Last month, the 18th (Near North) District conducted a similar patrol, resulting in 20 citations across various offenses. Fortunately, no drivers were caught under the influence.
