A Thursday morning collision at the I-40 East entrance ramp on Donelson Pike has resulted in the death of 56-year-old Kimberly Odell of LaVergne, reported Nashville.gov. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado struck the passenger side of a Mercury Mystique, which was attempting a left turn in front of the oncoming Silverado.
Odell, who was a passenger in the Mercury, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries. The drivers of both vehicles were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
Authorities are conducting toxicology tests on the 41-year-old driver of the Mercury to determine whether impairment was a factor. The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been announced.
