The bustling Loring Park neighborhood is experiencing some changes as CenterPoint Energy embarks on a major infrastructure project to upgrade its natural gas lines. Residents have observed crews working diligently along Spruce Place, between Oak Grove Street and West 15th Street, as they install sections of a new, modern natural gas main. This phase of the project is slated to wrap up by the end of next week, according to an update by CenterPoint Energy.
In the midst of construction, Spruce Place is partially open, allowing traffic to flow in one lane; however, drivers should be aware that street parking is currently off-limits on both sides of the roadway. Pedestrians aren't left unaffected, the east sidewalk is closed for the time being, even though the west sidewalk remains accessible to foot traffic. Next week's plans include moving operations to the intersection of West 15th Street and Spruce Place before proceeding further west on West 15th Street.
As infrastructure work progresses, CenterPoint Energy acknowledges the inconveniences caused by these necessary upgrades. "Thank you for your patience and understanding as we replace our infrastructure! We value the privilege of having you as a customer," it reads in their bulletin. The neighborhood's daily routine may be disrupted, but the focus remains on ensuring a future of safe and reliable natural gas service.
