After an exhaustive five-day search, the joined forces were able to recover the individuals from the Tennessee River, albeit under tragic circumstances. The search and recovery mission saw the deployment of specialized equipment including patrol boats, cadaver dogs, underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and sonar by organizations such as the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, Knox County Rescue Squad Dive Team, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, among others. According to the statement, the agencies demonstrated "interagency cooperation, professionalism, and commitment to service." Despite not achieving the outcome hoped for, the unification of these various entities was commended for their thorough and respectful efforts in handling a difficult situation.
The Loudon County Sheriff's Office detailed their appreciation for the expansive support, that included additional assistance from the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Tennessee Valley Authority, to name a few. With numerous responders, technicians, support staff members, and volunteers working together, the operation was a showcase of community and professional dedication under challenging conditions.
Recognizing the intense labor and emotional weight carried by those involved in the operation, the sheriff's post remarked, "Your professionalism, cooperation, and dedication to the mission made a lasting impact."
