On the bustling streets of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, wizards and witches will soon find a new haven as the Harry Potter Shop Chicago prepares to open its doors on April 10 at 676 N. Michigan Ave., as reported by NBC Chicago. Nestled below the Omni Hotel, the expansive 12,200 square foot space is designed to whisk patrons away to the magical world of Harry Potter, complete with a Butterbeer bar fashioned after the city's renowned speakeasy culture.
The shop will feature a moving mermaid-stained glass window reminiscent of the one in Hogwarts' Prefects' bathroom, broomsticks suspended "on fire" above, and a maze-patterned floor inspired by the Triwizard Tournament, according to NBC Chicago. It's not just a store but an immersive Harry Potter universe that includes a Golden Egg centerpiece straight from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."
WGN-TV adds that for those looking to showcase their house pride, themed apparel for Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin will be available alongside a selection of sweets and Chicago-themed items. Visitors can anticipate exploring various themed sections within the store, culminating in a visit to the largest Butterbeer bar in the U.S., drawing inspiration from the iconic Chicago speakeasy scene.
"From the shop's design to exclusive merchandise and a speakeasy-inspired Butterbeer Bar, Harry Potter Shop Chicago is infused with nods to the city's rich history and unique culture, giving fans a one-of-a-kind experience and unforgettable connection to the wizarding world," said Karl Durrant, senior vice president of Warner Bros. as stated by NBC Chicago.
