The City of Marietta has announced that its administrative offices will be closed on Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday, a date set aside by many to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This closure also applies to the Marietta Power and Water administrative offices, which will not be conducting business on the holiday. The information, published on the city’s official website, provides residents with details about which city services will be affected during the observance.
Despite the closures, the city's sanitation schedule will remain unaffected; this means that Marietta citizens can expect garbage, brush/yard waste, and recycling pickups to occur as per normal schedule. This decision ensures that city services related to cleanliness and public health will continue without interruption, even as some other segments of the city administration take a pause.
In cases of life-threatening emergencies, the city stresses that residents should dial 9-1-1. For non-emergencies that still require police intervention, the Marietta Police Department is reachable at 770-794-5300. The city has made provisions for those dealing with emergencies specifically regarding Marietta Power or Water, directing such cases to a hotline at 770-794-5160. Finally, should residents encounter an emergency relating to animal control, they are directed to also use the 9-1-1 service.
