The City of Miami Beach has appointed Steven Anthony as its new Director of Economic Development. Anthony, formerly the vice president of business development at the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, brings experience in banking, finance, and private equity, as per the City of Miami Beach release.
City Manager Eric T. Carpenter highlighted Anthony's diverse background and his unanimous approval by the Miami Beach City Commission. Anthony has previously served in various roles, including chairman of a private equity firm, senior economic development manager at Pepco Holdings, and advisor to the Washington Area Community Investment Fund.
Anthony expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Miami Beach's growth, focusing on sustainable development and the city's role as a top destination. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Dillard University and a master's degree in real estate from Georgetown University. Anthony's professional achievements include the 2018 Dillard University 40 Under 40 and recognition as a Kansas City Tomorrow Class 45 Alumni.
He will begin his new role in May.
