Early this morning at a Miami Beach hotel, a near-tragedy unfolded as a 5-year-old girl was discovered unconscious in a swimming pool. The incident occurred at the Tradewinds Apartment Hotel, located at 2365 Pine Tree Drive, prompting a swift response from emergency services. According to WSVN, Miami Beach Police and Fire Rescue teams arrived at the scene around 7:30 a.m. following reports of a child drowning.
The rescue crews found the young girl in the pool and began life-saving measures after pulling her from the water. She was later taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for further treatment and evaluation. A bystander, present during the harrowing event, described to WSVN the child's condition, saying, “She was in the pool for a while. She was blue, her lips were blue, she was really cold. She only had a t-shirt on nothing else.” This Good Samaritan also recounted how he performed CPR and called for emergency services.
Another hotel guest, identified only as Kayla, noticed something awry when she heard screams. Kayla told WSVN she assumed the child might have snuck past the adults and went outside to swim unsupervised. The police have not provided an update regarding the child's condition beyond that efforts were made on the scene to stabilize her.
Meanwhile, NBC Miami noted that the area around the pool was cordoned off with police tape. While officials have not divulged any details about the patient's identity or current state, the severity of the situation was clear from the visible emergency response efforts. The story remains developing as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances that led to the near-drowning.
