
A fatal encounter unfolded between a man sought in connection with a double homicide and deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred yesterday evening at around 9:34 p.m. on 6605 NW 7 Street in Miami, according to a press release published by the Miami-Dade government. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting the investigation into the police-involved shooting.
Homicide detectives from the MDSO were reportedly carrying out surveillance operations at a local hotel on an individual tied to a fatal double shooting the day before. The situation escalated quickly when the subject attempted to hastily get into his vehicle, prompting detectives to swiftly move to apprehend him. The attempted arrest led to an exchange of gunfire wherein the subject was struck. Despite immediate response from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the subject was pronounced dead at the scene.
No members of the sheriff's office sustained injuries during the altercation. Inside the vehicle of the deceased, detectives located a firearm, further details of which have yet to be disclosed. The identity of the armed subject has not been made available as of this report.
