Today, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) kicked off an induction ceremony for its latest group of future first responders. Cadet Class 2401, consisting of 39 members, officially joined the ranks at the MDFR Training Facility in Doral at 10 a.m. this morning. After a rigorous training period, these young hopefuls have taken the next step in their journey to becoming vital members of the fire service and medical aid community.
According to a report from MDFR, Fire Chief Ray Jadallah expressed his commendation saying, "Congratulations to our fire cadets being inducted today into our cadet program. Your dedication, training, achievements and selfless devotion to service shine as a powerful example, strengthening the legacy of the fire service and igniting the path for future generations to follow with bravery, wisdom and purpose." The cadets now anticipate becoming more actively involved in organizational activities, community service, and advanced fire service training, according to Miami-Dade Government website.
Among the newly minted cadets, there was a special recognition for twin sisters, Khloe and Kendra Gill. Collectively known as The Safety Patrol Twins, the duo received a Decade of Community Service plaque for their extensive efforts in raising safety awareness. Since 2015, their informative and engaging content has educated students across Miami-Dade County on a multitude of safety issues.
Shared with undeniable charisma and sharp humor, The Safety Patrol Twins have made safety education accessible, particularly during the delicate periods of the COVID-19 pandemic. The sisters have found a niche, captivating both children and adults by placing a consistent emphasis on "keeping Safety First." According to the twins' statements shared in the ceremony's program, they have reached thousands of Miami-Dade students through their online videos on crucial topics like Boating Safety, Back-to-School Safety, Halloween Safety, and more. Clearly, driving home lessons on safety can be just as entertaining as it is vital.
In their continued community outreach, The Safety Patrol Twins have also been providing resources in both English and Spanish, facilitating wider community engagement in a diverse city like Miami. Those interested in learning more about the ceremony, or seeking to arrange interviews with the standout cadets, were advised to email MDFR ahead of the event for confirmation and crew member attendance. Details regarding the induction ceremony can also be found on the MDFR official website.
