According to a report by WSVN, the leak, located at Northwest 45th Avenue and 195th Street, was successfully capped after crews labored for hours.
The situation unfolded earlier that day, with Local 10 describing it as an "explosive alert". A Hazmat unit also arrived on the scene around 4:40 p.m, reinforcing the teams working to mitigate a potential crisis. During the operation, residents in the vicinity were urged to stay indoors, signaling an acute awareness of the hazards that accompany such leaks.
Overhead footage captured by 7Skyforce showed white smoke emanating from the excavation site, the area cordoned off with red tapes. Efforts included digging to locate the crucial valve needed to stem the flow of gas.
