In a Miami bar, employees found a man’s body stuffed inside an ice cooler, according to authorities.
According to NBC Miami, Oscar Rivera-Peraza, a 35-year-old individual has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection to the case. The incident occurred at the Chicagoan Bar, located at 10702 NW 7th Avenue.
The site turned into a crime scene last Friday after Reddy Ice workers alerted a bar employee to the body, which was sequestered in their equipment. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, covered in blood and unceremoniously stuffed inside the cooler.
Deputies said they uncovered Rivera-Peraza’s identity "via fraudulent identification credentials that were left on scene and subsequently collected by homicide investigators," as noted in the official arrest report noted by the Local 10 News. Rivera-Peraza was located on Tuesday, and, after waiving his Miranda Rights, he confessed to the homicide revealing that he "(Rivera-Peraza) stated that he armed himself with a metal pipe and struck the victim multiple times before placing him within the (Reddy Ice) cooler," according to the sheriff’s office.
Despite the confession and charges, a motive for the slaying remains undisclosed. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office, having conducted an autopsy on the victim, on Sunday, ascertained that the cause of death was homicidal violence. Following his confession, Rivera-Peraza is now held at the Turner Guilford Knight Detention Center awaiting a bond to be set.
