Salt Lake City residents may want to enjoy the mild and partly sunny skies today, as the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts a significant shift in weather patterns over the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, today's high is anticipated to reach a comfortable 76 degrees Fahrenheit with a light east wind turning south in the afternoon. However, come evening, those out should expect mostly cloudy conditions with a low around 51 degrees and a gentle south southeast breeze.
As for the weekend, Saturday maintains the run of sunny weather, boasting a high near 75 and a southeast wind picking up a bit between 7 and 11 mph. Nighttime, however, will bring more cloud coverage and a low around 50 degrees, with a southwest wind subtly shifting east southeast. But changes loom on the horizon, a statement that would be a slight understatement, given the looming weather system.
The NWS forecast for Sunday indicates a turn towards cooler and potentially stormier conditions with a 60% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. The high for the day might only reach 63 degrees, with a south southeast wind continuing at a similar pace to the previous days. The chance of showers increases into Sunday night, with predictions of likely rain after midnight and a low around 44 degrees.
Heading into the next week, Monday appears to be the day targeted by rain, with showers mainly before noon and an 80% chance of precipitation. The high is expected to be a cooler 57 degrees, while the evening clears up to partly cloudy skies and milder lows around 44. For all those who have hoped for an unending springtime serenade, these showers might seem an unwelcome interruption.
But as the week progresses, some semblance of clarity returns. Tuesday is mostly sunny with a high near 68 degrees, while Wednesday holds a chance of showers with a partly sunny day and a high around 65. The NWS forecasts for the latter part of the week suggest clearer skies on Wednesday night and a chance of showers again by Thursday, albeit with a sunny day and a high near 71.
