After a tense search that spanned several days, the San Diego Police Department announced a dramatic resolution to the case of a missing 59-year-old woman named Yafang Zhou. Zhou had been reported missing last Thursday, and the circumstances of her disappearance sparked an immediate investigation by the department’s Missing Persons Unit. As reported by the City of San Diego Police Department, the mystery of her whereabouts was resolved when police detectives heard a woman’s voice near a maintenance hole cover on Beeler Canyon Road.
Officials detailed how responding officers, with the aid of additional units, San Diego County Urban Search and Rescue Team, Fire, and Paramedics, found and retrieved Zhou from the maintenance area. The woman was transported to the hospital in serious condition. The Police Department has withheld further details out of respect for Yafang and her family.
