Three teens were taken into custody after shots rang out on Murfreesboro Pike late Monday evening. Witnesses reported that gunfire was exchanged between two Dodge Chargers moving at speed — an event that fortunately didn't result in any injuries despite stray bullets hitting two unrelated vehicles. The Nashville Police Department confirmed the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at Morris Gentry Boulevard, with officers recovering numerous shell casings at the scene. Two uninvolved drivers, caught in the crossfire, saw their cars damaged by the shooting spree, one with both windshield and front bumper struck, and another with unspecified vehicle damage.
Multiple calls to the Department of Emergency Communications before the gunfire had already highlighted a situation involving a white and a black Dodge Charger, described as having armed occupants wearing ski masks. Detectives managed to spot both suspect vehicles, now joined in a swift-moving cohort on Nolensville Pike near Old Hickory Boulevard. A police helicopter took to the skies, tailing the duo until they split ways. Despite the high-speed pursuit, officers deployed spike strips to halt the white Charger on I-40 East. While the driver, identified as Aldo Sosa Arteaga, 19, and one of the passengers bolted into nearby brush, they, along with a 15-year-old, were eventually captured with the help of canine units.
Arteaga faces a slew of charges, including aggravated assault and evading arrest, and is currently jailed with a $105,000 bond. Recovered from the scene were two 9-millimeter pistols and the face masks reportedly seen by witnesses. The minors with Arteaga have been charged with juvenile handgun possession and a curfew violation, respectively. Nashville Metro Police detailed the outcome of the chase, specifying the various charges the individuals are now facing.
