A Massachusetts high school band director, Spencer Parrish of Needham High School, faces child pornography charges, with law enforcement officials filing an arrest warrant yesterday. This troubling development was shared in a letter from Superintendent Dan Gutekanst to the district, which was reported by CBS Boston and confirmed by WCVB.
The superintendent's letter noted Parrish has been banned from school property and placed on administrative leave, his tenure with Needham Public Schools beginning in 2021, meanwhile police have stressed that Needham students are not believed to be harmed or involved in the case; in a similar yet separate incident just a month ago, another Needham teacher, Michael Ciccolella, faced charges linked to child pornography.
"I recognize that this news is especially troubling coming so soon after the recent arrest and arraignment of another Needham Public Schools teacher on similar charges," Gutekanst stated, emphasizing the district's commitment to transparency and the maintenance of student safety policies; this statement was obtained by both CBS Boston and WCVB in their respective coverage.
