A statement from the OPD detailed how officers, arriving just before 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, found a male victim with a gunshot wound(s), providing lifesaving medical attention until paramedics arrived. According to the Oakland Police Department, "Officers acted quickly, decisively, and professionally, and their efforts likely saved the victim’s life."
Officers S. Wesley and P. Tenefrancia were instrumental in caring for the victim; Wesley applied pressure to the abdomen and Tenefrancia a tourniquet to the leg. The incident, which left the victim bleeding profusely, quickly turned as medical responders took over, transporting the victim to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition. This event was not isolated, for the Oakland Police Department succeeded in apprehending a juvenile suspect linked to the robbery and shooting within a day.
Having located the victim at the scene, OPD officers swiftly launched an investigation that led to the suspect's arrest at around 6 p.m. the following day.
