An off-duty Chicago Police officer was involved in a shootout in the early hours of Monday, April 28, following a confrontation with armed individuals, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. The incident occurred around 4:18 a.m. in the 3700 block of W. 67th Pl., where the officer came face to face with the armed parties. Gunfire was exchanged, after which the assailants fled in a dark sedan heading west.
The officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital for observation. No other injuries were reported during the standoff. According to the CPD, the situation escalated quickly and is now under investigation by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA).
