An early morning shooting in Fort Lauderdale has left one person dead and two others critically injured. According to NBC Miami, authorities received reports of gunfire shortly before 10 a.m. at a residence on Twin Lakes Boulevard, where they found two individuals shot outside and one inside. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with critical injuries.
"I don’t know what to think," Labron Palmer, a neighbor, told WSVN. "Kind of dumbfounded. Things like that don’t normally happen here."
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has been working to unravel the circumstances that led to the tragedy. In a statement obtained by NBC Miami, the police indicated that they believe the incident to be isolated, without a prevailing threat to the community at large, reassuring that they were not searching for a suspect.
Details about the victims' identities and ages have not been released. A neighbor who has lived in the area for over 50 years told NBC Miami that a family lived in the home, though she didn’t know them well. The connections between the individuals involved and the cause of the violence remain unclear, known only to those who directly witnessed or experienced it.
