A man in Palm Beach County has been arrested after being accused of dragging three dogs behind his pickup truck. 40-year-old Lorenzo Franco-Alcocer is charged with aggravated animal cruelty. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said witnesses recorded video showing the dogs being pulled at speeds between 15 and 20 mph, according to NBC Miami.
Franco-Alcocer was released last Tuesday after posting a $7,500 bond. He told deputies that he tied the dogs to his truck so they could relieve themselves but forgot to untie them before leaving for a work call. Deputies later went to his home and found the dogs in a crate.
Three dogs are recovering after being dragged behind a pickup truck in Palm Beach County, as reported by WPTV on their X account. They were taken from Franco-Alcocer's custody and first cared for by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control before being transferred to Big Dog Ranch Rescue. There, they were renamed Pirata, Nano, and Chispa. Lauree Simmons, the rescue’s founder, said, "One of them is completely missing all of his skin, all of his paw pads," but added, "They're getting the proper medication and love and care that they need," as mentioned by NBC Miami.
