Palm Beach County has secured a $500,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta to support the Heirs’ Property Family Wealth Protection Fund. With matching local funds, the program totals $1 million and aims to help low- to moderate-income families with heirs' property issues.
According to the Palm Beach County release, the initiative, led by the county's Department of Housing and Economic Development and approved by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, will provide estate planning and legal assistance through partnerships with the PBC Housing Finance Authority and the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. The goal is to address title issues that prevent families from accessing home equity loans or from passing down family land.
The fund will offer services to clarify property ownership and help families secure their property rights, which are often entangled due to unclear titles. Details on how affected families can access these services will be released in future announcements.
