It seems Shimova was not offering the platonic companionship one might think but rather she had a financial transaction in mind when she threw the term around – a metonym for sex work, in this context. An undercover officer from the Palm Beach Police Department made contact with Shimova via text message after learning of her advertised services on Wednesday. Shimova allegedly pinned her price at $1,000, sealing the message with a rose emoji, signaling intentions far beyond what might be arranged with verbal negotiations. During their back-and-forth, she reportedly asserted that a two-hour minimum would be required for this clandestine rendezvous and responded affirmatively to various proposed acts, specifying $4,000 for four hours, and shared the ever-symbolic rose emoji yet again, a gesture that has become as telling as the act it implies.
The subterfuge peaked the night of Thursday, when Shimova and the officer arranged to meet in the hotel bar around 7:34 p.m., where the suspect was quoted as saying, "everything goes and she doesn't waste time," in a detail provided by CBS12. It was at this juncture, after Shimova allegedly agreed to the inquired sexual acts, the police concluded their charade and moved in on Shimova; during a search of her possession, they found items consistent with engagement in prostitution: five condoms, lubricant, and an undisclosed amount of currency.
